Wedding Banquet Price List 2012

Here is the link :
http://singaporebrides.com/wedding_banquet_pricelist.php

I know is the thought that count and people really not sure how much to give to newly wed. To me I feel that if you don't want to give so much at least near to the amount so that the couple don't have to pay so much for the banquet costs. We all know it is expensive lunch/dinner but it is also a moment in your life to witness your best pal or friend their happiest moment.

If you can't make it to their wedding from the very start, do let them know. Once you confirm you can go and invitation card sent to you, you definitely must try to block out the date and try your best to be there. If really last min you are unable to go, at least give a small red packet or gift to them after the wedding. I think is the basic courtesy of being a friend. If not from the very very first start, you shouldnt have promise to go.

PS: I am a very frank person =)

Sourcing for Places for Wedding Banquet. & Why I choose One Degree 15..

Below is the link from Singapore Brides and I think is quite useful =)

Steps to start :
1. When is your wedding date
2. Your estimated number of invited guests.
3. Choosing of hotels, restaurants and clubs
( Many hotels and some restaurants have minimum requirements which you have to fulfill before you can place your booking. Some of the hotels have different minimum requirements for weekday and weekend booking. The wedding package is usually more expensive for weekend booking than weekday. When you make your booking, you must also check the maximum capacity of the venue. )
4. Lastly which is the most important : Try your very best to bargain if you know is damn hard.

Look out for wedding fair and some hotels always have wedding fair promotion. During those roadshows, they are able to throw more freebies and easier to bargain as they need your sales.

I had my wedding banquet at One Degree 15 Sentosa Cove. How I arrive in my decision in booking this area. Firstly both my hubby and me want to have something diff from others. Initially we wanted to have beach wedding and instead of the normal boring wedding lunch or dinner banquets. We wanna to have bbq instead and free and easy. We been to many outdoor venues to see. Eg. A Bar at Paris Ris Park, Mana Mana Beach Club at East Coast, Keppel Bay etc. There are many factors to consider. The number of guests they can hold. Weather is the most important factor. Especially mine is in Dec. Super Rainy Season. To have tent to shelter, surprising is so expensive. While I am sourcing for my venue , I came across One Degree 15 online. I happen to know there is a roadshow at Dhoby Ghaut Green which is beside Dhoby Ghaut Mrt. One Degree 15 was there. I met Vincent which is the sales consultant I been liasing with. He is very nice to explain the package to me and what so special to sign on the spot. He even offers to drive us down to see the venue. The typical me, we did not sign on the spot. Neither we went down to see the venue. At the roadshow, we happen to know about other places like.. Raffles Marina . It is not at Marina or at Raffles. It is at TUAS ! LOL. The prices are attractive and they also provide bus services if I never remember wrongly. There is another place like Singapore Yacht Club.

Kyo and me, both of us took a day to drive down to One Degree 15 to take a look. When I reached that club. I only can say the carpark is HUGE ! There is no problem in parking your cars for your guests. I can even drive sway my car left and right. Haha . While we are walking from the carpark to the club, seeing all the yachts parking at the pier, you can see houses saturated area. I simply fall in love with the place. And know what my hubby says? He says ," Oh ic, this is the playground for the rich ." Haha !

Vincent is very friendly and nice. He guides us around the area and slowly introduce to us which area we can hold our wedding for solemisation and lunch/dinner. We love the outside venue. The Floating Platform. We wanted to have our special dinner there but that area can only hold 80 people sitting down and the rest have to stand. As for banquet indoor, they can hold maxi up to 37 tables. We was told we can solemisation outdoor whch is at the floating platform and we only need to pay additional $500 . 2 bad things are if you book the banquet indoor, they allow you to solemisation at the reception area which is shelter for free and if you choose to solemisation outdoor, even if rain, you still have to pay $500 as book that day and slot for you . Another option is to solemisation at Nova Room which is shelter. Quite a nice room which can see the sea view. It costs $500 too. We booked the banquet for dinner at their function room and also the floating platform at a later date . We did pay the $500 and only can pray super hard that day wont rain.

Will tell you guy more about One Degree 15 in my next post =)

Rom Aka Solemisation

Registry of Marriage
http://app.rom.gov.sg/index.asp

Important to note for couple:
You need to file for notice of marriage.
https://app.rom.gov.sg/efile/file_notice_marriage_step1a.asp
Usually is 3 months before your marriage however if you solemisation outside ROM you need less than 3 months. Not to worry so much because your Justice of Peace ( JP) will inform you.

If you are like me who solemisation outside ROM, booking a JP is not as easy as what you think it will be . Especially those very popular ones.

For JP
http://app.rom.gov.sg/reg_info/rom_interpreters.asp
Do remember to
  1. Check with your Solemnizer on his/her:
    1. Language preference for solemnization
    2. Requirement(s) such as meeting up and/or pre-marriage preparation
  2. Invite your Solemnizer personally (third party such as a relative or wedding planner is not entertained)
  3. Note that your Solemnizer sacrifices personal time and efforts when he/she accepts your invitation to grace your joyous occasion as Guest-of-Honour. As a gesture of appreciation, please ensure that he/she is warmly received, entertained, and reimbursed for transport to and from your wedding venue.

Following are the popular JP . Keep seeing these JP names in forum and how eager every couples trying their best to get them to be their JP.

Dr Phua Tan Tee
( Only take up booking 3 months before your marriage and wont take any booking before that . I tried too many times. He is known to be very funny and can speak multi number of languages. )
Mdm Chia Swee Tin ( My JP )
( Her first impression given to me is that she is a very strict lady. But when you meet up with her, you will realised is a such a funny and approachable lady. She is very professional and someone you can look for about marriage consulting . Never regret to ask her to be my JP )
JP Chan Kai Yau
( I think he is quite old but he is very friendly through the phone . He dont have a mobile and only take call from house. This is quite surprising. But abit worrying, as on the AD how to contact him )
JP Simon Sim
Dr Kwoh Chee Keong
JP Yeo Woon Soon
Prof Yu
JP Peter Lee Keok Boon
JP Patrick Tan
JP Koh Kok Weng
JP Chia Ti Yu
JP Eric Wong
JP Chung Tang Foong

Consent to Solemnise also need to give your JP to sign and be given to ROM a few days before your wedding date . That day also to collect your ROM cert and vow to be legally to be husband and wife. My wedding is on 9th dec 2012. I went down on 6th Dec 2012. There is a specific date and time given to you after you file for your notice of marriage.

Fables Bridal

Come to think of it, I did not know why I end up sourcing for bridal shops at Malaysia. Maybe it just meant to be. My hubby stays and works at the north side. Thinking of traveling all the way down to Tanjong Pagar to where the most bridal shops located. In addition, he always go to Malaysia to pump petrol. Seriously traveling to Malaysia is must easier and faster. Most importantly, their package is so much cheaper !

In my previous post, Sg bridal, Venus, Enya Marine, D'Gio and Fables. Of course there are more bridal shops in Malaysia. These are the one I went before and enquire about their packages. Some are expensive, some are very pushy... All of them have their pro and cons. But i can assure you that their packages are cheaper compare to Singapore except for Enya Marine.

Before you decide on which bridal to choose, do drop down at their branch and try on their gowns. Seriously pre wedding gowns are not important. For Malaysia, they are super good at editing. Be it you are fat or thin, they can edit out the way you want it to be. AMAZING ! Haha. So, please try on their gowns and see whether you like their AD Gowns. And do ask them whether are these gowns premium , classic or dunno-how-they-name-them gowns. Just to ensure your package is what you want to sign up for. Not to worry, for malaysia bridal shops, are always change their photo scenes quite frequently.

Of all choices, why I end up choosing Fables. To me personally, Enya Marine and SG Bridal is not cheap. Enya Marine customise make gown for individual. Sg Bridal which my friend signed up. The photographer is very experienced and think is chief -dunno what rank. The price is not cheap. I find their gowns are just so so. D'gio i shall not mention much, sales consultants are unfriendly and very sales minded. I love Venus and Fables . I heard that one of the bosses are the same. Their styles are almost the same. However my hubby's friend took up Venus. Hence we choose Fables. Before choosing Fables, of course I make sure they have the types of gowns I like ^^

As I am doing Sales, I know signing up at wedding fairs or roadshows will be cheaper or better deals. After trying on their gowns at Fables and Alice ( Very customer service person ) told me more about their package. She is very nice to tell me that they are having roadshow in a few weeks time. I came back to Malaysia and go to the specific roadshow to sign up for their packages. Btw some of you may heard that signing up at Malaysia for bridal package, is actually taxable. However not to worry, they will give you a fake receipt and if the custom really check, just show them the fake receipt =)
